Maintaining our new forest!

In the first quarter of the year, the saplings for our newly expanded forest have been planted. However, the work does not end there. To ensure the survival and growth of the saplings, proper maintenance is essential. Our volunteers come back twice a year and check on the saplings regularly. This way we ensure the forest stays healthy and is ever-growing.

Maintaining the saplings is crucial for their healthy growth. The first two years after planting are the most important as this is the period when the trees are vulnerable and require the most attention.

Newly planted trees are easily overgrown by weeds and grass and need a little bit of help in this stage. It is crucial to keep the surrounding area trimmed and free of weeds. Once the trees grow tall enough, they can finally soak up enough sunlight.

Newly planted trees need water en protection from animals to grow well, especially during the dry season.

With proper care, the saplings will grow into healthy trees that benefit the environment for years. By expanding our forests, we are working to reduce CO2 and sustain biodiversity. In most commercially planted forests trees are cut after only 40 years for commercial purposes. We guarantee that our trees remain standing for at least 60 years.
