An Unintentional Preliminary Survey

/ Ilona Smeets / Our Planting Journey

Prior to the plan of gearing up with the whole team to plant in just a few days, part of the Green Team hit the forest to explore the condition of the soil.

Recent heavy rainfall was clearly visible: streams were flowing rapidly and the ground was saturated. Fortunately, the area’s natural elevation helped, excess water drained the lower-lying sections, keeping mud conditions manageable.

Upon arrival, we discovered that the land had not yet been prepared for planting. So before we can get started, there’s still groundwork to be done. As we’ve highlighted in earlier updates, proper soil structure, especially sufficient oxygen, is essential for successful planting.

Despite the prolonged wet conditions, plowing turned out to be surprisingly smooth, which was a positive takeaway.

The team is eager to move forward and transform this area into a thriving habitat, but for now, we’ll need a bit more patience before the real planting begins.
