The journey continued...
In March, we spent a week planting in the Eco Forest. Check out our video here.
Upon arrival, we unloaded all the plants from the van and trailer, laid them out in the field, and wrapped the roots in wet jute sacks to keep them moist.
The next day, the real work began. We tackled a variety of tasks: removing barbed wire, clearing ivy that had become too heavy for the trees, and using the tractor and brush cutter, Nick ventured into the forest to remove tall shrubs, mow grass, and clear paths. For the first time, we also used the new tiller — exciting!
We tilled in two ways: first a light pass, just a few centimeters deep, and then a deeper one, up to 10 cm. This helped loosen the roots, allowing air in so they could rot and not regrow. At the same time, it created a compost-like layer that softened the soil — perfect for planting. While part of the team continued tilling, the rest began planting shrubs in the loosened ground.
Meanwhile, we attached the new auger to the tractor and adjusted it to the right height. Unfortunately, a part broke off... Luckily, a local company was able to weld it for us quickly. But once we resumed, the auger failed again and several parts fell apart. In the end, we finished the job by hand — and successfully: all the plants are now in the ground!
